Out of camp
trips, ranging from 1-5 days in duration, are the highlight of each term
at CSC. Campers of every age choose from a variety of expeditions appropriate
to their age group.
The opportunities inherent in wilderness travel to inspire self-confidence
and independence are unmatched. During each day
on the trail, campers are responsible for setting up camp, preparing
meals, and keeping their gear together and mess kits clean...all of which
require a cooperative yet individual effort fostering self-reliance and
group awareness.
The Four Corners region is ideal for wilderness exploration due to its
diverse geography. Within a three-hour ride, campers can be rafting the
Gunnison River, exploring Anasazi ruins in Utah, discovering a ghost town
near the Continental Divide, or climbing a lofty peak in the Weminuche
Wilderness.

"Ryan has attended
Colvig Silver Camps three summers and he loved each trip. I have observed
that he seems more confident, independent and happy. Ryan likes having
choices about his trips at his age; he enjoys having some control
over what he does. He has learned to make friends too." - Parent,
